Annotation | Cardiac rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary programme of education and exercise designed to promote development and maintenance of a desirable level of physical, social and psychological function at the onset of an acute cardiovascular illness. The authors present evidence for the clinical benefits of cardiac rehabilitation, and on risk factor interventions for heart disease: smoking cessation, treatment of diabetes, treatment of hypertension, lipid therapy, and routine prescription of aspirin and vitamins.
