KeywordsLiving patterns ; Physical disabilities ; Income [older people] ; Disablement benefit ; Social surveys.
AnnotationThe aim of this survey was to find out the size and characteristics of the disabled adult population living in private households in Great Britain. The following topics are covered: prevalence, severity and type of disability; socio-demographic characteristics; economic activity; financial circumstances; use of social and health services; needs assistance; and social participation. Prevalence of disability was much higher than in the earlier 1985 survey of disabled adults in private households. This is not consistent with what is known about disability trends from other sources. (RH).
