| Annotation | "It's in our hands" is about the active participation of older people in society. The conference was attended by people aged over 50 who had been directly involved in local pilot projects of the Better Government for Older People Programme, or through the Programme's network or pensioners' organisations. The conference aimed to see how older people could become more effective and influential in the Programme, in turn shaping our society now and for generations in the future. This report follows the conference sequentially, with sessions: setting the scene; creating and collaborating; taking forward our agenda; and "we made it happen!" Ten workshops were held on aspects of engagement in the political process, policy-making and provision: the arts; education and lifelong learning; education and the media; employment and engagement in older age; Europe; health and social care; housing and the built environment; minority ethnic communities; retirement income; and transport.
