Annotation | The Office of Fair Trading's report, "Older people as consumers in care homes" examined the current position of older consumers of care. This conference examined the place of regulation of care, and considered the whole industry in economic, trading, ethical and marketing terms. It considered the rightful position of regulation and its exercise. The Relatives Association wish to encourage an intellectual debate on the "rightness" or otherwise of regulation, rather than one which labours on the detail of which standards should be in place. Thus, the conference aimed to help inform the regulation debate in Scotland, and to influence its practice in future. (RH). |
