AnnotationThe main concern of Age Concern England (ACE in its response to the Government's consultation is to improve the service for the many older people who have no access to a car, and whose needs have been neglected for too long. While ACE agrees with most of the proposals, these rely heavily on local authorities to take positive action, and note is made of the wide variation between different authorities. The response also comments on accessibility (to transport and passenger information), quality partnerships and contracts, rural transport, and bus user representation: there is an urgent need for greater involvement of the public in the provision of bus services.
