Annotation | The consultation paper "Support for bereavement" proposes reform to benefits for bereaved people. Age Concern's response looks at the position of those who are approaching, or have reached, pension age. Among concerns expressed are that widows over pension age should not be adversely affected by any future proposals. Plans to halve the amount of SERPS (state earnings related pension) paid with the state pension to people whose spouse dies on or after 6 April 2000 are unfair and should be reversed. (RH). |
