AnnotationA population-based telephone survey methodology was used to estimate the eligibility for home-delivered meals (HDMs) in New York State, and to determine the socio-demographic characteristics associated with HDM eligibility. The study also examined the relationship between eligibility, nutrition risk status, food insecurity, and functional ability in the state's ageing population. This information is intended for use in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Elderly Nutrition Program by targeting HDM services to those at greatest risk, and in preventing older people in New York State from developing nutrition-related health problems.
