Annotation | Early detection and intervention in dementia of Alzheimer type (DAT) is an area of growing interest. This brief article describes some research on rehabilitation of specific aspects of memory functioning carried out at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in Cambridge. Results suggested that, among the variables which can have an impact on the outcome of memory therapy interventions, the person's awareness of his or her memory difficulties may be particularly important.
