Annotation | Families have always provided most of the care for their older relatives, and family members now provide more eldercare for longer periods than ever before in the US. This trend is projected to continue, with family members absorbing even greater caregiver demands. Most studies on caregiving have tended to centre on issues concerning stress and coping. This editorial suggests some other areas which merit future basic and applied ageing research on family systems and family caregiving. (RH). |
