AnnotationPositively Aging is an innovative interdisciplinary instruction programme which has evolved from a 6-year partnership between working scientists at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio's Aging Research and Education Center (AREC) and middle school educators from Northside Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. The innovative approach of the partnership uses examples from geriatric and gerontological sciences to enhance pre-college mathematics and life and behavioural sciences, including health promotion and disease prevention. This article outlines the background leading to the development of Positively Aging, the rationale for choosing the selected scientific area and strategy for model development, the programme's structure, and some quantitative and qualitative evaluations of Positively Aging.
