AnnotationThe district of Angus in Tayside is largely rural, and 17% of the population is aged 65 and over. The inspection found that the absence of health board strategies for acute services and older people has had a major impact on these services, which are in urgent need of development for older people to receive the best healthcare. Other recommendations made include a review of manpower, dealing with deficiencies in the stroke rehabilitation service, and consideration of policies concerned with restraint, resuscitation, and care of incontinent patients. The inspection reports that services are being delivered by caring and committed staff in less than satisfactory accommodation which is becoming increasingly unsuitable for modern healthcare practices.
