AnnotationThe theme of this John K Friesen Conference held in May 1999, was: Building a society for all ages: community-university partnerships in research, education and services for older adults. The aim of this Friesen conference was to celebrate the relationship between the Simon Fraser University Gerontology Research Centre and its community partners. The conference is designed to meet the continuing education needs of agencies and individuals responsible for planning, administering and providing services. The keynote address is included: "New perspectives on aging in a diverse society", given by Dr Meredith Minkler (University of California Berkeley). Summaries of the seven workshops are given and the plenary which was on "Intergenerational perspectives on health care, equity and community services." This annual event embraces two of John Friesen's lifetime interests - the education of adults and the special needs of an ageing population. (KJ).
