Annotation | The London Health Partnership was formed in 1994 as an alliance of charitable foundations, business interests and government, its purpose being to generate a programme of work to help develop urban primary health care over 3-5 years. A report of this King's Fund initiative at the end of the first six months outlines results of consultations with health professionals and users. Themes emerging at meetings with older people included: variability of services offered; ageism; a sense of anger when rules changed; anxiety; services in people's own homes; not being valued; and discharge from hospital. Local workshops were held in Canning Town, Redbridge, Dulwich and Croydon, where it was known that services for older people were being improved. Reference is made to similar work in other cities, where experience confirms the fieldwork carried out by the Partnership. (RH). |
