Annotation | The need for the creation of a national policy for older Ghanaians is discussed. The article provides a brief sociodemographic profile, along with the issues and challenges confronting the Ghanaian older population. The author proposes an Older Ghanaian Services Act, which would be the framework for the creation of an array of programmes and community-based services to tackle contemporary and emerging needs of older Ghanaians. Specific services such as day care, housing, transport, health care, and long-term care are discussed. The author urges policy makers to seek partners with businesses, corporations, religious institutions, local communities, and the private sector in creating programmes geared toward meeting older Ghanaians' needs.
