| Annotation | This publication aims to index by subject, data at a sub-national level, i.e. regional, constituency and local authority covering urban planning, social policy and local government issues. Its purpose is to guide the researcher to published sources of statistics at sub-national level concentrating on serial publications in the above fields. It aims to be comprehensive in its coverage with 3,518 tables indexed from 191 publications. The index is based on sources held in the Research Library at the London Research Centre, with a limited amount of additional material. The Census of Population has provided the largest individual source of sub-national statistics. There is a brief user guide to the index which should be consulted, as the index itself makes full use of abbreviations. Amongst the subject headings of particular relevance are: Carers; Community care; Day centres; Death rates; Elderly people; Gender; Home care; Home help; Incomes; Independent homes; Life cycles; Residential care; Social Services.
