Annotation | Although there has been increasing concern about physical and psychological abuse in nursing homes, one aspect of elder abuse that has been relatively overlooked is theft of nursing home patients' property. This paper discusses the nature of this type of abuse, and explores some theoretical explanations for it. In addition, some theft-reducing techniques ranging from simple target hardening to formal and informal surveillance are suggested. (RH). |
