Annotation | This commentary on Stalker et al's paper gives a community psychology point of view, that people with dementia are the experts, while dementia researchers are the learners. The main question is, not how views on what works for service providers can be elicited. Rather, which research methods are appropriate and effective in enabling the development of understanding through working respectfully, co-operatively and in solidarity with those with dementia in their everyday lives. How can a collaborative understanding be developed with those with dementia can use to transform the conditions which oppress them and damage their mental health? (RH). |
