AnnotationWhatever else may characterise the US workforce of the early 21st century, two things are certain: it will be older than it is today; and workers who did not grow up with the Internet will find themselves greatly disadvantaged. A large proportion of pre-retirees anticipate working in retirement, some because they must, but more commonly because they want to. This article considers labour force participation rates of older Americans, older workers' employment prospects and effects of the Internet. (RH).
