Annotation | The study is designed to delineate variations found in care management arrangements for older people and for those with mental health problems, following implementation of the Care Programme Approach in 1991 and the NHS and Community Care Act 1991 in April 1993. The study started in 1996 and will last five years, with three phases. The first aims to identify and categorise emerging models of care management. The second will formulate and examine in detail different arrangements identified in the first, with information being collected from a small number of authorities. The third phase will evaluate a small number of different models to provide comparative evidence of the relative efficiency and effectiveness. This article outlines key findings from the first phase of the mapping study. (RH). |
