Annotation | The management of the menopausal and post-menopausal years have become a major focus for the medical profession. Research has demonstrated the benefits of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in treating subjective symptoms of the menopause. This article reviews research on some of the potential benefits of HRT, focusing on HRT and Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Alternatives to classical HRT, such as selective oestrogen receptor modulators, are also examined. (AKM). |
