Annotation | Stroke is the leading cause of severe disability and the third most common cause of death in the developed world. Its impact is reflected in the tidal wave of literature on the subject in the last few years. The aim of this review is to distil current knowledge about stroke, with emphasis on evidence-based practice concerning its diagnosis, management, secondary prevention, and the role of stroke rehabilitation units. Areas of remaining uncertainty are considered. (RH). |
