Annotation | Life expectancy has increased over the last two centuries, chiefly as a result of improvements in public health, housing, nutrition and general living standards. Basic research into the science of human ageing should be pursued urgently, if we are to develop a scientific basis for extending quality of life in old age. (RH). |
