Annotation	Series started in 1974 and was intended to be biennial but recent delays in publication have resulted in publication every three to five years. The main purpose of these projections is to provide a consistent set of projections within a national framework, based on past demographic trends, which can then be used as a basis for the allocation of resources and local planning. Each new set of projections supersedes the previous set published. Former title: "Population Projections: area: population projections by sex and age for standard regions, ..." The last volume to be published in this series is number ten and future projections will only be available online from the website (www.statistics.gov.uk) but not in exactly the same format as the PP3 series as data will be published for each year by 5 year age groups at local authority level.
