AnnotationGrampian Healthcare NHS Trust and Moray Health Services NHS Trust are assessed as two of the best providers of mental health services reviewed by SHAS (Scottish Health Advisory Service) in recent years. Despite Moray being a sparsely populated area, the shift from primary hospital and out-patient care only, to an integrated range of services with a community focus has been achieved particularly successfully. Innovative multidisciplinary and inter-agency working was found, with considerable input from service users. The in-patient component of the old-age psychiatry service in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire requires the most attention. This report comments on the quality of care and services inspected, and on service user involvement. (RH).
