Annotation | Three of the articles (Miller and Mukherjee; Pedlar and Biegel; and Stommel et al) were presented in part at the annual scientific meeting of the Gerontological Society of America in 1996. The articles included study a wide spectrum of relevant groups, and apply a variety of approaches to the themes of attitude, belief, and perception formation and service use. Each highlights a different set of subjective factors and implications for practice. Overall, the articles suggest that an understanding of attitudes, beliefs and perceptions about services can help to reduce the disparity between professional assessment of need and care plan development and client behavioural response.
