AnnotationThe creation of primary care groups (PCGs) and trusts (PCTs) has provided an opportunity for health and community care services to work together and forge better links. This report brings together findings from Age Concern London's two-year investigation into primary care provision for older Londoners - published in seven briefing papers - and reports back on the scope for improvement found. The main recommendations made are: the need for a multi-disciplinary approach; the need for improved access to services; and the need to make better use of resources. The report also raises questions for the future concerning PCGs and: adequacy of resources to fulfil their role; reducing inequality in health service provision; monitoring and evaluation; and relationships and liaison with other service providers. Changes in London government with the introduction of the Greater London Authority (GLA) may also have an impact on older Londoners' health. (RH).
