Clinical placements in nursing homes | Author(s) | Carolyn Storey, John Adams |
Journal title | Elderly Care, vol 11, no 5, July/August 1999 |
Pages | pp 6-8 |
Keywords | Nurses ; In-service training ; Nursing homes. |
Annotation | The nursing home provides an ideal environment in which to learn about the specific care of older people. The authors explain the value of a structured clinical placement in the nursing home setting. As the nursing profession has always placed great emphasis on those aspects of care which form part of the student experience, being "on the training circuit" also has an important symbolic role in helping to banish negative stereotypes of nursing home nurses.
