Annotation	A rationale for skills training in interpersonal effectiveness tailored to the needs of older people is presented. This is followed by implementation guidelines, covering: a description of adaptation of specific training modules in observing and describing feeling states, use of "I" statements, reflecting, validating self and others, saying no, drawing and enforcing desired boundaries, and making requests and wishes known. The implications for society at large include access to the wisdom of older people who would otherwise be marginalised. (RH).
