AnnotationThe SCOPE project is an initiative funded under the Fourth Framework research and development programme of the European Commission, which aims to promote primary health care for older people in Europe. This article reports on a conference held in Leuven, Belgium in January 1999, at which representatives from 15 European countries reviewed the work of SCOPE, particularly the assessment instruments being developed. More importantly, delegates are seeking positive action from EU (European Union) member countries to end social injustices in care provision experienced by older people in Europe. (RH).
