Annotation | The document "A first class service" published for consultation in July 1998 set out a strategy for performance improvement. As part of the Performance Assessment Framework, six indicators were proposed and have now been adopted. These are: health improvement; fair access; effective delivery of appropriate healthcare; efficiency; patient/carer experience; and health outcomes of NHS care.
