Annotation | More than 1,000 responses were received to the Ministerial Group on the Families' consultation document, "Supporting families", many of which indicated work already being done. Mention is made of Age Concern's TransAge Action project which encourages older people to contribute to the lives of children and older people. The key role that grandparents and other older people can play in helping young families is welcomed, although responses warned against generalising in this area, as relationships between parents and grandparents vary considerably between families. Responses to Question 20, on serious family problems, focused primarily on domestic violence and its perpetrators. Progress with family policies since the consultation is outlined. (RH). |
