AnnotationThere is much evidence to suggest that attachment security remains a key feature of relationships throughout the whole of life. Permanent disruption of attachment relationships, either through bereavement or separation, can be a major source of stress. The authors hope to reduce the attachment anxiety of patients with dementia on an assessment ward through use of memories tape recorded by each person's spouse - a technique known as Simulated Presence Therapy. They report on a case study from a pilot project, and describe the improvements in the study subject's behaviour. (RH).
