Annotation | This study focused on reasons why 212 American midlife (40-59 years) women graduate students pursued graduate study, and identified their experiences when enrolled. Developmental theories and concepts of generativity and complexity were used to analyse the data. Concepts of security and complexity best explain these women's reasons for studyING. Subcategories of complexity - challenge, change, and growth - provide a useful rationale in best describing these women's experiences when enrolled. (RH). |
