AnnotationThe investigation's purpose was to explore current occupational therapy (OT) services with older people, results of which were to be used to inform the teaching of the undergraduate OT course at the University of East Anglia (UEA). Norfolk, with a growing ageing population, was chosen for the survey. Occupational therapists responding to a questionnaire indicated that they worked in several locations (most popular being clients' homes), listed the six commonest conditions of older people seen in the previous 6 months, gave reasons for referrals, and who had made referrals. The authors compare their results with those of previous studies. Their findings indicate the potential of OT to contribute to the effective and client-centred support of the health and dependence of older people. A larger national survey of services is recommended. (RH).
