AnnotationThe overall aim of the Local Service Networks was to test the effectiveness of a community development approach to preventative work with older people. The agreed objectives were: to improve access to, and availability of, services for older people and to prevent or delay dependence on long term care services; to increase choice and control for older people; and to use the local community as a resource in developing community care services and support networks. The Local Support Networks were set up in Hartlepool and Brighton, operating in three housing estates in each town. This report describes the Community Audit undertaken for each project, identifying the key issues which older people, community groups and other local stakeholders felt were important. Key points are summarised, and the appendices include a copy of the audit questionnaire. (RH).
