Annotation | The White Paper, "Modernising social services" announced new special grants on partnership and prevention as part of its Social Services Modernisation Fund; and the report of the Carers Strategy, "Caring about carers" announced a special grant for carers to enable them to take a break from caring. This letter draws the attention of local authorities to the draft Local government special grant reports for: Promoting independence: partnership grant (no 42); Promoting independence: prevention grant (no 43); and Promoting independence: carers grant (no 44), which were due to be laid before Parliament. General recipients of this Local Authority Circular (LAC) will not have received the draft of the Special Grant report, which was sent only to local and health authority chief executives, and directors of social services.
