Annotation"Partnership in action" [a consultation document from the Department of Health, DoH] explains that the Government's strategic agenda is to work across boundaries in order to combat social exclusion, tackle inequalities, encourage welfare to work, and improve health in local communities. While Age Concern England (ACE) welcomes the thrust of the document, it does not believe that the recommendations go far enough. ACE reiterates comments to the Royal Commission on Long-term Care of the Elderly that seamless care packages will only be delivered to individuals where responsibility is firmly and clearly vested in a single organisation. ACE calls for older people's needs to be recognised, and for adequate resources to be made available to fund their treatment, care and rehabilitation. The paper looks in greater detail at the specific issues and proposals included in the consultation paper, and gives ACE's response. (RH).
