AnnotationSurveys of geriatric care and training needs were conducted at health centres in Massachusetts (MA) and Michigan (MI). Results show a high proportion of patients 65 years and older using health centres in both states. A high proportion in the 45-65 year cohort were also being served by health centres in the Michigan sample. Health centre staff were found to have little training in geriatrics. The top training need areas identified were mental health, clinical assessment, pharmacology, reducing access barriers, and case management. Implications of these findings for geriatric education centre training efforts are discussed. (RH).
