Pages604 pp
KeywordsSocial policy ; International.
AnnotationThis is the second in the series "Broadening perspectives on social policy" (the first was "Crime and social exclusion", Social Policy & Administration, vol 31, no 5). The intention is to focus on tendencies in social policy which operate to transcend and/or bypass the nation state. The first three papers are about identifying, setting and enforcing global standards and preconditions for quality of life deemed essential to the social well-being of individuals and groups in any society. The next three concern social developmental principles for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on a north-south basis. The last three papers deal with spatial, territorial or "grand geographic" considerations over time, for the development of social policy. (RH).
