| Annotation | This circular is a revision of EL(97)32, and should be read in conjunction with "A guide to consent for examination or treatment" originally issued with HC(90)22. The guidelines apply to any case involving capacity to consent when surgical or invasive treatment may be needed by any patient. Reference is also made to the revised Mental Health Act 1984 Code of Practice (Chapter 15) which is to be published in Spring 1999. (RH). |
