Annotation | The progress and outcomes of "train-the-trainer" action research conducted with funding from the adult education section of the European Union's (EU) Socrates Programme are described in this article. The project aimed to develop good practice in pre-retirement education through collaboration with European partners. The training took place in Norway and involved focusing on the human qualities required to produce effective facilitators of life planning. A key aspect of facilitation skills was the use of a sequence of progressive applications. These consisted of the following steps: needs identification, setting aims and objectives, activity design, facilitation of activity, facilitated feedback and evaluation of the activity, and the redesign of the activity. This produced a complete process in which the full range of facilitator skills and associated activities could be practised. (AKM). |
