AnnotationAn interesting aspect of nursing cancer patients both in a hospice and in an acute elderly care ward is that the outcome for each group of people depends to a certain extent on how they came there to be cared for. The need for hospices is very important, to maintain the rights of those with a limited life expectancy - and age should be irrelevant. A UN convention on the rights of elderly people would provide a standard of care agreed by those countries willing to participate. (RH).
