KeywordsObesity.
AnnotationAll symptoms of obesity become more frequent with age, and dominate quality of life and medical treatment. This article suggests that doctors and other health professionals should reconsider their attitudes regarding weight management. Most overweight people can lose some weight, but only for three to four months; beyond this, further loss is rare be any method. A return to ideal weight (body mass index, BMI 21-22 kg per metre squared) is not necessary. Major health benefits result from 5-10kg loss - with improved symptoms, reduced risk factors, and extended life expectation, even in older patients with type-2 diabetes. (RH).
