AnnotationSecuring more influence and responsibility for local people and their communities is the challenge for local government. The Local Government Association (LGA) will be its national voice, building on the work of the three bodies it succeeds: the Association of County Councils (ACC), the Association of District Councils (ADC) and the Association of Metropolitan Authorities (AMA). This report is based on MORI face to face interviews with 5,098 adults aged over 18, in their own homes, across 499 sampling points in England and Wales on 7-21 February 1997. Responses to this survey for the LGA show a high level of support for local government and local decision-making, with a high level of satisfaction for services provided by local authorities. (RH).
