AnnotationPost-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in war veterans is well-documented, beginning with shell shock in World War I. Commemorations of anniversaries of events in World War II such as D-Day may now have a similar effect on survivors, that they recall their experiences all too vividly and suffer symptoms similar to PTSD. This study aimed to ascertain whether recalled trauma long after the event formed a pattern similar to the DSM-IV PTSD criteria, and to understand the reason for the late presentation of symptoms in order to inform therapeutic practice.
