Annotation | The general manager of Counsel and Care describes his organisation's initiatives on searching out good practice on dementia in long-stay care homes. Much can be achieved through sensibly arrange physical environments, individual care and imaginative experimentation. Findings are published in detail in `Windows to a damaged world' (Counsel and Care, 1997), the central point of which is that it is both possible and rewarding to communicate with people with dementia.
