Journal title | Community Care, 10-16 December 1998 |
Pages | pp 24-25 |
Keywords | Ethnic groups ; Attitudes to the old of general public ; Social policy. |
Annotation | The author reflects on the way in which society treats older people from ethnic minorities, and calls for a major cultural shift in policies and attitudes. Not only must we combat ageism in general, we should also acknowledge that older people from minority ethnic communities have done much to contribute to this country. Some pointers for good practice for social services departments (SSDs) are suggested. (RH). |
