AnnotationThe Fuld Object Memory Evaluation (FOME) has demonstrated usefulness in the assessment of memory impairments in the geriatric population. While most memory tests rely on verbal or visual modalities, the FOME utilises multiple sensory modalities for encoding information. Consequently, it does not rely solely on auditory attention, as visual and tactile senses may all be used to identify objects. Secondly, it has proven useful in the identification of pre-clinical dementia. Even so, limited information regarding the convergent and discriminant validity of this measure are available. This study evaluated the validity of FOME in 146 geriatric rehabilitation patients. Convergence was found with other standardised measures of memory, as significant correlations were found between FOME scores and scores from other scales. (AKM).
