AnnotationLewisham Council's Equalities and Community Affairs Committees commissioned this research by the Centre for Policy on Ageing (CPA), as it was considered important to have detailed information on the following areas: people who are preparing for retirement or who have just retired; the leisure needs of black and minority ethnic elders; and the leisure needs of older people in residential homes. This summary report outlines the research design and methodology, and findings on leisure-related policy and provision. A section on perspectives on activity presents the broad mainstream views on leisure and community involvement, and perceptions of older people, pensioners' organisations, older workers, older unemployed, the recently retired, minority ethnic groups, and older people in residential care. The summary report concludes with options for service change and development, and recommendations for leisure provision in Lewisham. (RH).
