AnnotationSeries - DH1 Mortality statistics: general. Annual. Contains key statistics of deaths and death rates in England and Wales by age, sex, marital status, place of death, birthplace and coroner involvement for the reference year. Since 1980, serial tables have been produced every fifth year (1990 no.25 is the third volume of serial tables). These tables previously appeared in the Series DH1, DH3 and DH4 and they have now been discontinued with no.28. From 1993 the DH1 Series will include most tables from the discontinued series: Mortality Statistics: area (Series DH5). Tables in this series have been reviewed; there is now more emphasis on trends, and the analysis of seasonal mortality. The edition number 33 is the last one classified using ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases) which was used between 1979-2000; future volumes will use ICD-10, which was implemented in January 2001. ONS plans to produce volumes in the DH1 series within 21 months of the end of the data year. See also: Table VS3 Mortality Statistics for England and Wales. Palgrave Macmillan published this series from the 2003 issue. The former ISSN (1469-2791) changed with no.37 (2004 edition). Series ceased in 2008 (last one number 38), continued as part of Series DR. (KJ).
